One of the questions I am asked most often is how do I travel so much? First off, I’m not married and I don’t have children so that allows me more flexibility than most to travel. Also, I come from a family of divorce. I consider three people my parents (my biological dad, my biological mom, and my step mom) and between the three of them there has been 9 marriages and 8 divorces. So combined, they have as much marriage experience as Elizabeth Taylor.
Now I believe there is a silver lining to everything, including divorce. And one of the silver linings is the opportunity to vacation with all of my families. It’s a little unconventional and it isn’t always smooth sailing, but this year I have three family vacations to Mexico within a month and a half, ten days in with my step mom, seven days days with my biological mother, and five days with my father. Strange? Yes, but this was the hand of cards I was given, and I am using every occasion to enjoy time with all my families and strengthen the bonds that tie us together. Am I blessed? Absolutely! Has it been easy to maneuver the dynamics of an unconventional family? No, it really hasn’t. So I take the good with the bad and keep on moving.
So what about all those other crazy trips I take around the world? How did I end up in all those places? The simple answer is that I have a very deep connection with my best friend and when an opportunity arises for us to travel together we make it happen. She also happens to be a famous popstar so on most of those awesome trips she is working but we find every moment of downtime to spend together and make the most of it.
Aside from trips with my BFF, I travel solo to places like India and Costa Rica to study Yoga, do volunteer work, and write. It sounds idealistic, right? I agree. But trust me, it isn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For the most part, it is amazing. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be doing it. Though I do long to find someone and some place to put down some roots one day, that hasn’t happened yet so until it does I plan to keep traveling anytime the opportunity presents itself.
Being a writer, I take my work with me wherever I go and I have no clue what’s lies ahead of me. I am cool with that. For now, my plan is to explore, grow spiritually, be of service, and to create. I trust that my faith will always lead me wherever it is I am meant to go. With that said, I’m off to pack for my next round of adventures.
Sending all of you Love and Light! Praying all your dreams come true. Please pray for me too!
